I cant believe the metal that is behind the bumper.....glad its laying on the garage floor instead of weighting down the car!

RadMav, your car is the inspiration for my daughter's car.
Your's is so nice. I hope this does'nt wierd you out but I have your car as the desk top on my PC. lol
Your's has a 73 front bumper right? But as you say it has been sectioned? In other words for people like me who know nothing about this stuff, you cut it in half and made it more narrow plus moved it in closer to the car? Then you also filled in the marker lights?
    Looks real good
    clint

    thanks for the compliments,

no, its the stock 77 bumper, well it started that way ..., I took 5 inches out of the front and rear bumpers to bring the ends in just as you stated,to do it you have to cut twice, taking it all out of the middle would throw out of proportion. also shaved the bumper bolts and made new mounting hardware so it bolts on from behind for a little cleaner look, and then moved the bumpers in,again making new mounts to lose some of that weight. getting rid of that bridge girder looking chunk of metal...those things are massive(y)

I had the same idea. When I moved the bumper in just to see what it looks like, the edges of the bumper were to close to the side markers. The sides I think need the same attention. But they do look good once to bring those big boys in. If you look at a lot of the older cars, they had big bumpers too. They were just closer to the car.

Won't look good with a front valance on the front and a big bumper/no valance on the rear...

Couple more pictures of the 73 with the bumper slid back. It fits good and is tight, but I dont plan on hitting anything with it!! The bumper center sits out 1 1/4" more than the center of the hood now

I am waiting for new chrome bolts to fill the old holes.

Now I get to change the springs to lower the front end...went up a little more than 1 inch without that hunk of steel behind the bumper!! :bouncy: Todd

Looks good Todd. Just cut the springs you have to lower the front.

It slide the bumper about 2-3 inches.

Dennis, Yes new springs are coming, heck it was to high in the front end anyways! Think I am going the Stephen Moore route and smashing 6 cylinder springs for a few months and then baking them in the oven..lol. for the ride height I want.
