I took some pic this morn. This is the lever I am talkin abt. Wondering what it was used for on this car; since the column locks when key is removed?
Look at the diagram Jeff posted. You will see the lock-out rod. There is a lever that goes from the trans up to the column...right to where you have it wired up. This rod follows the movement of the floor shifter. If this rod was still hooked up on your car, you would see the steering column "collar" rotate as the floor shifter is moved. It duplicates the movements of the column's shifter if the column's shifter was still on the column.
Thanks for the explanation. I will have to take a better look. My car has long tube headers; do u suppose it was removed to not be in the way of header install?
