I am wanting to do a rear seal on my trans. I figure I should ask if there is anything else I can replace myself back there. I have heard some guys talk about bushings in the tail shaft area. I do have a slight vibration and seems like leakage while driving. Is there a kit or something I can buy to reseal/build the tailshaft?

You can buy the seal and bushing separately but not as a kit - that I know of.
You will want the bushing removal and installation tool - or remove the tail housing to get it out. Note: the hole in the bushing should line up with the bottom groove in the tail housing
The seal is pretty straight forward but put some Vaseline on the sealing surface before you install it and it won't hurt to put some loc-tite 518 on the outside of the seal to seal on the housing better.

So if I take the tail housing off I can service it with basic tools? Hammer and hammer?

Well, you might have better luck with a cape chisel but a screwdriver - big and long - would probably be a good companion for your hammer.
Yes basic hand tools work to get them out and maybe a big socket to put them in.
I have special tools for instalation and removal but I didn't always.

Do you know if I can get these parts at a OReiley or AZ?

Blu, I took my tailshaft housing off, 6 bolts, if I remember correctly, bought the parts at O'Reilly, and took it to the local tranny shop. They swapped it all out for free. I gave them a $25 tip.

They have the tools and the know-how, and it took literally less than 10 minutes.

OReiley-seal and bushing $18? Will be at the local store at around 3pm today. Guess I should use gasket maker to put it back together?

Should be a gasket in there, if I remember correctly. Or reuse the old one if it isn't busted up.

Seal and bushing kit was $18, no gasket. This seal is the one that has the boot looking end... I like it.
