C4 tranny leak

    Got the leak fixed. Pump wasn't seated in case. Got it going. No leaks shifts like a dream. On to the brakes and body work.

    No o ring. Front pump wasn't seated. Pushed in case crooked. Blowed gasket. New gasket and pressed in straight. 64 65 66 take o ring in outer face of pump. Mine didn't.

    Yea i never figured out my year,but 71 to 82 takes same rebuild kit. No o ring. Just make sure pump presses all the way in before installing bell housing.

    To use an "O" ring the pump must have a groove on the outside. I don't see this groove on yours.

    To properly install the pump and housing guide studs are mandatory.
    What usually happens is the pump is installed but when the housing is attached quite often the bolt holes don't line up so the housing is turned a bit which causes the gasket to move.

    No sealant or glue is required.
