Wow ,i just ajusted the Cal-Tracs and added 2 new main leafs(right and left) and all new bushings, the car is tighter than ever .I think its going to hook harder than it ever has, i can feel the differance in the ride ,stiffer and tighter at the rear end than ever before.:Handshake

if you dont mind me asking. what exactly does a cal-trac do? does it keep the whole back end of the car standing still in the same stance while the front jumps up upon launch? :)

    Control Wheel Hop During Breaking?

I might spring for the Cal Traks if they also controled spring wrap up during braking. Asked if they did and got this answer:

No, they don't help to stop wrap up during braking only acceleration.

I had a '66 Mustang. It would wheel hop VIOLENTLY on a panic stop. Expect the Mavs are the same unless wheel hop is controlled.

Staggered shocks might help, which i think the 66 mustangs didn't have?

    ...but 71+ mavs do have.

Good point. Maybe the Mav won't be as bad as the Mustang. But I'd still prefer traction bars that work both ways.

With Cal-tracs, you can mount shocks on both sides or staggered. They have the mounting points for either way.

I have them, and new Wilwood master cylinder, and have no issues with wheelhop either way (forward or stopping). 74 model with staggered shocks, and I mounted them to the Caltracs staggered, as well.

I would think if you are getting wheelhop when stopping abruptly, you have the rear brakes set too firm compared to the front brakes. Back off the tension adjustment and see if that braking wheelhop goes away.

how important is it to replace the rubber bushings with aluminum ones. I spoke to bryant and the one he put together doesn't have the bushing change to aluminum.

I have spy photos of bryant's traction bar that he made himself . . . can't reveal my sources:
