i have replaced the front seat with a powered front bench split out of a 80's thunderbird.. works great.. just need to remount the drivers side.. it is too close to the door... i will worry about it when the move is finished
seat swap I used buckets from a 90 camaro.. all 4 holes lined up with the factory holes in floor.. only had to make a spacer for the 2 inside holes.. when looking through the windshield the seats are spaced equally between the hump and the door.. took about 30 min for each seat the first time . after that in and out in 10. the price was rite and the seats are mint.. were in storage for 8 yrs
here's a pic of my 73 comet gt seats. obviously i didnt have any mods except for drilling 2 holes but i love em.
well i pulled them out of the car myself so im pretty sure that they're the originals. even had the same identical interior as the one in the picture.
im not saying that i know much more than anyone else. all i know is what i took them out of. i guess im still "kinda" a rookie, but ive owned my 4door for 6 yrs now. only owned my 2door for about 6 months and am "trying" to build it back after someone had a front end collision in it. by the way, i like your cars!
ahhhh.. i do see the difference now and never noticed it. makes me wonder what they came out of. thanks for the point outand i do appologize if i sounded like a smart@$$ . i wonder what other seats would bolt directly into a maverick that had the same back spacer and everything...hmmm.
i'm using early 80s camero seats in my mav, so far it looks like i'll need a 1 inch spacer for the inner rear mounting hole. other then that they line up perfect, look simular to early 70's high buckets
i know i can rule out anything other than ford seats. it has a D2** part number on the bottom of the driver's seat i believe. i may copy the number down and try to find someone who can tell me what they are out of.
It just so happens that I have a set of buckets out of a 95/96 mustang in the garage, I bought them to put in my car. When I threw them in there to mock them up they the looked huge! way out of place IMO. wouldn't have taken much to bolt them up, spacers a couple of holes, like you said. One thing I did'nt like was the fact that I would have had to drill holes outside of the bracing on the floor (nice sized washers would work) to keep the seat in the same position as a factory bucket would have sat. One thing I did learn, since the seats came with no rails, is fox body seat rails bolt right up. Maybe this is why they sat so high, heck i dunno. Prolly one of the best looking buckets I've seen are the late model miata seats, nice bolstering, not too tall, just good looking IMO. Damn my post are long tonight, damn the monster drink.
