After being out of the hotrod biz for a while getting back in it.
Wife bought me a 72 Maverick, was one owner and only has 56000 miles on it.
Have 9 inch to install with CalTracs rear system on it. Have seen a lot of post about tire sizes and what can fit.
With the stock width rear end and complete 1 inch lower CalTracs system I want to run 275/60/15 rear tires.
Has anybody have any pictures of this similar setup. From what I have been reading I think most people are using either 4.250 or 4.5 back spaced wheels. Do both fit? How much space between the springs? What tires are you using so I can see the aspect ratio of the side walls.

Also does anybody have a source for frame connectors for it.

I'm about to put cal tracs on mine but its an 8.8 w/ 265/50R15 on 15x10 with 4.5" back space but it has been narrowed 1" under the maverick 8" axle
so 5" would get you to the same place if it was at factory specs 385260_10151400731057889_1810627086_n.jpg
it only rubs a little on the leaf spring on the dr side if I take a real sharp left turn

A lot of members use weld in connectors from Chassis Engineering.

My son's 71 Mav has 275/60/15 tires on a 7'' rim with 4.5 backspace. The tires had about an 1/8" of interference with the spring. We put a 3/8" spacer on and have a 1/4" clearance now. Ideally you want an 8" rim with that size tire but we already had these rims lying around.

I have seen a few people speak about moving springs inboard to make room for larger tires. Without have to back half the car are the people using someone's kit to relocate the springs a inch or two per side? If so who's using what kit.

My CalTracs has been ordered with 1 inch drop. Why did you narrow the 8.8 1 inch narrower? Was it 1 inch per side or just 1/2 inch each side. Did you have any clearance problems in the tubs above the springs. Also did you have to clearance or roll the inner fender lip. How much clearance do you have now at the fender lip?
Your car looks great with those tires.

THANKS, It was one inch overall length, so 1/2" per side, that's what I figured up to center a 10" 4.5bs wheel in the wheel well, yes I had to massage the inner fender well some but not a lot, & roll the outer fender lip, & shave a lil off the bump stop bracket. but it doesn't rub anywhere except the leaf spring on the dr-side in a hard turn & I think if I adjusted the rear shackle mount in the frame I could fix that
a 5"bs would do the same thing with a stock width Mav axle, but since it was already being cut down I thought why not.
