If you are going to build a tough C4 you might as well build a tough AOD. Overdrive will be your friend. Especially with 4.11 gears. You will be able to cruise at 70 pushing around 2600 RPMs. Do you know what pistons you have? What brand? Pistons with 4 valve reliefs sound like stock or OE pistons. Are they forged? A part number would be great. I run my current cam because it's as much lift and duration as I dared go with the 1.94/1.60 valves in my ported Windsor heads. I am still running the 40 year old 302 short-block.

Here's the motor when it was 39 :) Just screwing around :)

Hey Chris. What are the specs on that cam I can't find em'.

Man that sounds good. All you have done to the engine is cam, intake, port, and exhaust????

It has 69 Windsor heads ported with 1.94/1.60 valves. The Cam Research cam I mentioned earlier, Air-Gap that's ported a little and gasket matched, Holley 650 DP. Full length headers with H-pipe. 2.5 inch exhaust. Flowmaster 2 chambers. K&N filter. Clutch fan instead of giant HP robbing stock 7 blade monster fan :scratchchin: .... Oh and Pertronix with an MSD 6-AL. OH! and one ticking lifter

Other mods include 9" rear end with 3.70 gears and a Detroit Locker. Global West Sub-frame connectors (worth every penny!). You can sorta see the two stripes I left on the ground :) The tires are old... Lots of tread but hard rubber.

Basically it's all old school easy to do hot rod stuff... Aside from the 5-Speed. And that wasn't tooooo much trouble. Just got tons better when I finally added the hydraulic clutch.

I just got a cool new camera. I need to make some more "Maverick behaving badly" videos. There arent enough out there.:burnout:

I'm guessing he went with that 268H cam for you because you are running an automatic? Its specs sounds like it will bring the power in sooner. I might agree with him depending on what stall/gears you are running. My cam was complete crap when I ran the C4 with a 2000 RPM stall (I know it's wrong :)) When I raced it it drove away from a dead stop like any old Crown Vic till it got to around 3000 RPM then it seemed to wake up.... then at 4000-6400 all hell broke loose. My car was a low end pig because of the 1800-2000 RPM stall and the super tall (2.50) first gear that the C4 has. It just didn't go with my high RPM cam and Torquer intake at the time. The T-5 gave me a really short (3.35) first gear and of course I can rev the car to whatever I want when I launch it :) So My peaky high RPM cam stays in its hot spot better with my combo. The 268H will probably make great mid range power and run out of breath around 5500 RPM if what I read is true. The 268 sounds like a great street performance cam for good all around driving.

Nice. I'm trying to get the wife to allow me to go ahead and order an edelbrock top end package kit and get to work. What pertronix dizzy did you get? And would you happen to have a link to those sub frame connectors??

Just got the Pertronix conversion for the stock dizzy.

Its been so long since I bought the sub frame connectors that I cant remember exactly what I bought. They are Global West brand and they were made for an early Mustang. I'm thinking 65-70 Mustangs. They were a dead fit since the Mustang and Maverick are virtually the same down there.

These look like the ones. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GLS-911/?rtype=10

    Sweet thanks.
I've always wondered this.... How much did your port work cost? Is it pretty pricey?

Port work cost varies. I got the Windsor heads from the head porter friend of mine because a customer abandoned them at his shop. So he gave em' to me cheap. I could call and ask him how much he charges per port.
