I didn't ask a "stupid" question", and you didn't answer it. The only thing stupid was for you to state the obvious. I can read. I know what he asked. I have bead-blasted many auto parts, but never door skins, so I was curious.

I personally would not use chemical strippers, especially on the inside of a door. Unless you have a big tank to soak the door in when your done, you will probably never get it all out. Clean it as best you can then coat it with something like Por or Rust Bullit.

That is what the commercial place does, after the chemical "soak" they rinse vigorously and dip the part several times into a neutralizer. Then it gets coated with an anti rust that is water soluble. It can be stored that way for a few weeks which gives you a chance to prime and paint. I always pour self etching primer into the door or into any boxed area like the front of a hood and slosh it all around to coat the hidden areas.

I have stripped paint more than I have sandblasted. Both jobs suck for sure. As in all bodywork we all find different ways to do things with different results. Chemical stripping is really nasty work and the fumes can be killer. Getting the vehicle free of all stripper is sometimes a real challenge, I have never had a problem but have heard horror stories. I have not made a decision as to mediablast my grabber or strip it. But I am leaning towards blasting it.

I believe many strippers are water soluble. That in itself creates another potential problem.

Stripper is may less messy than media/sand blasting.
