If you look around you'll likely see some pearl white Cadillacs running around. (cars and s.u.v.) I personally don't care for the lack of depth that pearl has. To me, a base/clear with metalflake looks much better ! Keep in mind that dark colors such as black show all imperfections in the body.
I think the pearl white would look good with a green interior. My Acura's a pearl white and when she's clean she sparkles really nicely. Haven't really thought about putting the same color onto my Comet though, always thought of something darker (more a mix between olive and forest with tan accents) as any chrome I decide to leave would stand out more. Of course, chrome would stand out just as well on a white car I've seen, so good luck with whatever you do!
Howdy & I think that the Pearl White would look nice. My car is currently Antique White, but I'm thinking of changing it to Pearl White
You guys (and gals) are great thanks for the advice so far! Gene, the dash itself is just fine but the dash cap is toast. I'm thinking of going with a black dash cap and black headliner. Oh yeah, I love bench seats too and that's what I have. P.S. There's nothing terribly wrong with avocado green lol that's why I want to keep SOME of it
So far you have good taste We need to get some black put on the seat when and if you get that front seat redone. So is it settled? Black and avacado green for the interior? If so , paint choices are kinda narrowed. Now maybe it's about graphics that bring out or show off the color choices. The pearl white idea is a good one but... . We got time to think about this, right? I hurry and wait when it comes to big decisions.
Actually, that is exactly how my '74 Grabber was painted from the factory. And that's how it will be repainted. (with black interior though, avacado on the outside and inside is a little too much.. )
Dave Boyer: That car looks great in that color, thanks for the pic! It's looking that way, Gene with a little white thrown in as well. Here are pics of the back seats, just need to be cleaned up. The front seats didn't make the photo shoot :16suspect Yes, Gene.......we have lots of time to think about this! So get out the chips and avocado dip and sit a spell
I do like them seats, really. Daves car looks to be the one to get your ideas from. Wish I were able to photo chop the car and the colors, you know, switch them around and check out the white as the main color. Did you find any treasure under the seat?
Treasure under the seat amounted to: 1) 2 pennies 2) 1 dime 3) dirt Wait, that's not the best part! Treasure in the headliner: 1) nest 2) mouse $h!t 3) dead mouse Yes, my car was abused and left to rot. Under my care, she will never again have to see days like that
Just a tip on white cars... The off whites, like Wimbeldon White, from Ford don't tend to look very good IMO. They look dirty all the time. There are guys on this board that use very bright whites in place of the off whites. I have seen the pics, Mavaholic is one, and really like the outcome compared to original white shades. Just a thought. I know you would feel warm and fuzzy by using a white shade off the 74 pallette, but if you are not going full on original, might as well get a nice shade. Good luck and welcome Dave
Ok MissMaverick, it's been a year already. What progress have you made? (Like I made some ) I see that there are some "green" items that may or may not intrest you on e-bay. http://motors.search.ebay.com/_Car-...1QQsaslcZ2QQsatitleZQQsbrftogZ1QQsofocusZmppf
Gene, the '74 Comet turned out to be much more work than was originally expected, and has since become a parts car. That's why there hasn't been any progress on that car and there never will be. As soon as we get all the parts out of it that we want, we'll probably advertise it if anyone locally wanted to come and take the body/hood/etc. (big parts!) off our hands.....otherwise, bye bye it goes to that Great Comet Heaven in the Sky.
