I put traction bars on my 69.5, and it cured the wheel hop problem.

When you say "driving around and the rear of the car wants to jump to the side".... is this during cornering? If so, I would say it is like every old leaf spring car I've ever had. In the same token, I have tended to set them all up stiffer than they came stock. I have had 2 cars with 3 link rear suspensions, and that is a world of difference. No twitchiness while cornering. They track great under power while turning.

If this is jump to the side effect is happening while driving in a straight line, you might want to look into a good 4 wheel alignment, just to be sure the car is indeed square and everything is pointed in the right direction. I am sorry to say I don't have the alignment specs I used last handy, but we did tweak my car to compensate for radial tires. These were originally spec'd for bias-plies.
