Can't afford a second car so I'm gonna build on!

Got at better look at mine. Simple to fab out of metal strap ... a flat, a 45 (ish, might be more due to angle of the bumper) , another 45, and then a 90 bend in the opposite direction that lies just under the gravel shield. Two holes and you are done.

 

I had some time Saturday and snapped a picture of the bracket ...



The arrow points to the slotted hole that bolts to the other end. I would imagine this bracket keep the bumper and gravel shield from rattling against each other, more than anything else.

Well after a long slumber. I threw the battery on charge. I've changed my mind about the windshield. The original is too cloudy for my taste and I'm not doing it again. As soon as I get the bumpers back on it's going to the glass shop for a new windshield.

 

There's nothing any nicer than peering out through a brand new windshield, but when I broke my windshield in my old Maverick, I was disappointed that I couldn't find a new aftermarket windshield without the tinted strip along the top. For me, it looks too "modern".

First day I've had to work on the car in a long time. I spent most of the day installing the bumper and valance. I'm thinking the rechromer didn't bother straightening my frt bumper. It looks up in the center just like it did before. It's not bad but I notice.

I had a replacement Mustang battery tray I needed to mod but my original tray was long gone so I couldn't swap the lower brace. I just cut off part of the Mustang tray and bent it. It works. Not pretty.

Drove it a few miles. Everythings still ok. Waiting for an apt to get the cloudy windshield replaced.

 

I see what you mean about the bumper.

 

I also found chrome popping off in spots after sitting in the garage. Tri City may not be all that good after all.

Buttoned up a few things and drove it a bunch. Only issues are the carb needs more work. It's a little hard to restart on short runs. And the brakes vibrate pretty bad. I had these turned these but we were missing some attachments to do drums. I have another set I'm going to have turned at the machine shop. I'm going out of town Monday so I'm dropping it off at the glass shop for a new windshield.
