I only did rear rear ones.....and no pics. I'm going to put the 5 lug frt brakes on tonight so I may try them all the way around.

Things didn't as well as I had hoped. The spindle flange shields bent pretty bad when I took the nuts off. The 70 Mustang V8 backing plates are a direct bolt on but I'm gonna have to order some different shoes and get a few seals.

Today I have the frt brakes stripped down to the spindles. Expected to get more done, but I have spent most of the day cleaning parts. The Mustang backing plates that I am using have been undercoated on the back so I am going to have to let them soak in solvent awhile....but everything is looking good.

I had some fairly new frt wheel brgs that I planned on using but I noticed 1 had a bent cage. I was glad to see that Autozone have Timken brgs....made in the USA just like what I had. I've been hearing people run down China brgs.

I took a quick look at the suspension and everything seems tight...but I'm sure it's squeaky. The outer tie rod ends have busted boots. I'm gonna start with lubing everything, replacing the outer tie rods, adjusting sleeves and sway bar end links.

I cut the drums yesterday and cleaned everything at work. Had to pick up some new self adjusters but I think the rest of the hardware is ok. Better to keep old Fomoco stuff than new Chinese stuff I guess.

Today I'm installing the 70 Mustang brakes on the frt on my Maverick. It's all going good....the only trouble I had was that the spindle t-bolts wallowed out part of the spindle flange shields (the shield over the spindle on top of the backing plate). I couldn't find them available as a replacement part so I straightened the original ones. I was worried about the the bolts turning into them again when I re-installed them so I used a wood chisel to spread out the force when I re-installed the backing plates.

All went well and I now have a proper 5 bolt drum set up on the frt. Next I have to re-do the brake lines and brackets to except 70 Mustang brake hoses since the 70 Maverick brake lines aren't available.

Finally got the suspension back to all stock and 5 lug. Threw on some Torq Thrusts to see how they look.

Scratching my head this week. I'm ready to start on the rear brakes, but I need to replace the parking brake cables but I can't remember what kind of cables I had in it. The original 7.5" rear end was replaced with the one out of my 68 Mustang long ago.

The brake cables had locked up while the car was stored so I cut them off when I put a Maverick 8" back in it a few weeks back. Looking at the rest of the parking brake hardware, I can see that I had modified the system for different cables. Just can't remember if they were off of my Mustang or not. They could have been off of anything...I used to have a bunch of old Fords. I'm thinking cables for a 73'ish Maverick from NAPA would be the best starting point. Still debating.

That is precisely why I keep a log of everything I do to modify a car.

I do now, just wasn't thinking about it when I was 16. One of my goals now (for long term) is to adapt any off the shelf Mustang part to my car I can so at least those parts won't be an issue later. I'm gonna try to get the trunked moded for the Mustang gas tank on my vacation here in a few weeks.

Ordered the NAPA parking brake cables for a 72 Maverick today. By my measurements they should be about right. And my frt cable is nice and free....good news! :)

Also ordered these for the rear wheels:

So I learned a $60.00 lesson. I had replaced the wiper knob on my car with one off of a mid 70s model long ago and wanted to find a replacement. Well Craig hooked me up with a nice one and stupid me yanked the old one off without releasing it properly from the back...and pop. I broke the wiper switch. So I just got a Motorcraft replacement from Rockauto....live and learn!

Thanks...the pics don't show it very well but those are skinny and wides. It simply looks awesome (to me anyway). 185s on skinnys in the frt and 225/60s in the rear on 15x7" rims. I'll probably replace the rears with a 235/60 or 245/60.
