Hello guys Can’t find the u joint My mechanic says it’s the other type of u joint It’s the one for the the rear axle end on the drive shaft I parted out a Mexican maverick with a 4speed toploader Dana 44 rear end. All this is in my 70 Mav Anyone have any suggestions Or part numbers Very close to driving the Mav , after 2 years of working on her
what does he mean by..."other type"? I have changed yokes and or bought two different U joints to swap cups to make the right one...
Ditto. Need to just measure the cross pins and cup sizes. Went through this many times, most recently with my 99 SD F250. The cups on the joints I used were a few thousandths too small and caused a vibration at highway speeds.
we just went thru this on a 69 falcon v 8 swap. we found the right one using this page: https://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/universal-joints-ujoints.asp you can sort the data at the top of the column as well.
I have an oddball conversion u-joint for my 9" # 5-134X - which is a combo of 1310 and 1330 with the 1.062 cup (1 1/16) size on both. As the others have said - take all your measurements and any parts store can match it all up. This chart is a nice basic guide - the common sizes for cars are the 1310 - 1330 - and rarely a 1350
I disagree, I had a monkey at the local parts store tell me they didn’t cary and could not get me a flasher relay for a 2000 Ford Ranger. That’s why I specified a “good” parts store.
that's the truth. i always walk in with a part number. AND, to that point, a lot of parts listings are just wrong, not even the fault of the counter monkey. I had to buy a 'typical' old style ford starter solenoid over the weekend, watched him look it up, called for a side by side more modern one (like my ranger has), which was wrong, but thats what he brought because the computer told him to. Not 'really' his fault.
he told me the clips are on the outside , then on the inside of it He got the one behind the toploader But the one on the rear end, is an odd one.
You guys are right ………….. I shouldn't be so generic in my description of the proficiency of the parts counter helper. Plenty of horror stories from anyone that deals with them regularly for sure. I know I have a few …………
