well the repo steel mustang ones are 130 like he said so an extra $20-30 bucks for something thats not even repoed for our cars plus its in carbon fiber. so in the grand sceme of things its not that bad of a deal
My 76' mav only has a driver's side mirror, me being the idiot, had to ask my buddy... "why did they bondo up the holes for the passenger mirror"... i believe i got some explicatives shot in my direction, haha As for carbon fiber, that's cool, but would it be easier to make them out of fiberglass as far as expense? would the mold be easier? or use same mold? That would be a better option for people like me that would paint them... heh
took the words right out of my mouth. actually with this process it is easier. with fiberglass it is always inconsitant... process for these is differant then my spoilers. as far as expense for FG... not much... basicly i'm doing this for the restomod guys... but if someone just wants stock.... then they can just buy stock ones. and like newtoford just said... the cost differance is not much at all for CF. you can always paint CF. remember i'm doing this for the maverick community if i did these for like a new vette or something i could get 500 each for them! and i'm not joking.
would fiber glass be strong enough to last as a mirror? i have a feeling the wind resistance would shorten their life fairly quickly
I doubt that fiberglass would have a problem with the wind, after all hood scoops, flares, even ricer bodykits are fiberglass and put out a lot more resistance than sport mirrors and don't seem to have a problem, I just think personally it owuld look odd on MY car to have carbon fiber sport mirrors, when nothing else is CF... unless i went balls out and went ahead and snatched a hood and did small bumper swap and got the spoiler kit... but i don't plan on racing mine, so the weight issue doesn't bother me, personally. I am rather excited however to see a CF'd mav mirrors hood and spoiler, would be cool to see hwo it turns out! I'm pretty sure i can speak for most, that we appreciate you attempting the mirrors, hell i might buy a set just to see how it would look! Keep us posted and good luck to you!
