I bought a rebuilt carb for my 74 Maverick last summer and it runs much better. However, I would like to reinstall my original (40k miles) carb back on the car and keep this rebuild as a spare.
Does anyone know of a good reputable rebuild shop that I can send my original in for a professional rebuild with oem quality parts and be sure to get my same carb sent back? I've looked on line and found some that look decent but websites can be misleading.

Years ago, I used Pony Carburetors. I just pulled up their web site and it looks like they are now owned by a different entity.

I know when I used them, it was the place to go for Ford carburetor restoration back to factory looks and specs. It was not cheap, but it was the best. They also test ran the carb to make sure it was adjusted correctly. 1st class work.

    Hope this helps ............. :)

You can find ' rebuild kits ' for your carb and Do It Yourself !! It's not that difficult .. I have carbs and manifolds that I removed from engines that were functioning well .. but changed to Fuel Injection and they're sitting " covered up "on a shelf now .. I guess you could call them ' spares ' ... but I don't think I'll ever have a use for any of them.

The last I knew, Pony Carbs went out of business.

Yeah.....they were THE experts on Ford carbs. They had a booth at all the Columbus Ford Swap Meets. They are missed.
