    Dan-
Did the '71s not have the rubber strip across the top of the radiator support?
Maybe it is there and I am missing it, but it doesn't appear to be on the b/w
reference pic that you posted either.

Man, I wish the only thing I to worry about was the color on the top of my coil. :(

Very clean. A true trophy worthy winner!

That engine bay is a testimonial to attention to detail. Very very nice.

Seth ... from what I have read and seen that rubber strip was only installed on cars with A/C .... my 74 has the strip since it has factory A/C ... Those two cars in the reference pics above have no A/C ... so no rubber strip. It's purpose was to direct as much air as possible through the radiator to maximize cooling.

    Hmmm.....

You learn something everyday. I have a different rubber piece on mine, even though the A/C has not been reinstalled....yet.

My Stallion had that rubber strip, and it is not an A/C car. I tossed it years ago after my core support got crushed when the motor fell on it while removing it. Maybe all the later cars had it?

Not sure Dan .... Here are several auctions I checked out of low mileage or original looking Mavericks. Notice the 75 Grabber has no A/C ... so no rubber strip. The other cars have rubber strips ... and although some appear to not have A/C ... make sure you look at the dash for an A/C vent ... which means the A/C was removed but came with A/C from the factory.

Also ... here is the engine compartment from that restored Stallion from a while back ... it didn't have A/C. Of course ... the strip could have been removed ....

Hmm, maybe it was because I ordered the heavy duty suspension package. Gave me a lower rearend ratio, might have given me another core to the radiator too? As well as that rubber strip. Also remember vividly tearing out that hood insulation.

    Ahhhh.....concourse talk!!!

I would have to say my experince has been that only the factory AC cars had the rubber strips. It also appears that in the later year Mavericks....the holes were there in the radiator support for the rubber strips....even if the car didn't have the rubber strip. all of the pictures Dan has posted would confirm this conclusion.

    Great looking engine compartment!

Dan, what intake are you using?
Looks like a Performer painted blue... Maybe?
I was wondering if a Stealth would pass for stock enough looking when painted.
    I just have a 289 4v intake right now.

    Thanks
    Dave

Btw: I am attempting to keep the Sprint engine looking stock as well. I am sure it would never look that nice though. I don't have the patience.

    Are you running a pcv?
Mine is in the oil cap, then line goes to manifold vac.
The crank filter goes through the back of the passenger VC to the air filter housing... where yours goes to the oil breather instead.
Is that how yours was originally, or did you do some modding?

    If you modded, why?
Do you still have the charcoal canister?
    Just curious
    Dave
