Hey. Gonna be changing the front brake hoses tonight. When I pull the old ones off is the fluid going to drain out, and if it does will that affect my M/C? I put a new M/C in and the concern I have is if it runs out of fluid inside it will I have to re-bench bleed it?

you might loose a drop or 2. It's not gonna pour out.

Plug the line with a peice of rubber hose with a screw in it if you dont have any appropriate plugs.Just slip the open end of the hose over the flare on the steel line after removing the brake hose...No leaks and minimal fluid loss if your quick.

sweet thanks! Any major headaches I might encounter while I'm at it? this seems like a pretty straight forward repair.

Use a good quality line wrench...not an open end wrench.

Worse case scenario: The fittings on the hard lines wont spin on the lines when you go to loosen em...Or you round em off trying to loosen em.Penetreting oil and a little heat go a long way if they are stubborne.Good luck!!!

after reading the last two posts I'm waiting for tomorrow to go get a line wrench. I don't know any of that flaring stuff so I don't want to screw up my hard lines. Got my other stuff done so tonight wasn't a waste. Thanx for the info guys!

Keep organized and have all your parts and tools ready to go. Make sure you leave the lid on the master.

so what do I do in the worse case scenario...? tried the penetrating oil and heat. Haven't rounded them off yet, but they will if I keep trying. Do I vise grip'm?

Don't use vise grips...that could squish the fitting and then they will leak. Hit the line wrench with a hammer to scare it loose. The sharp blow will do the trick.

More heat...More penetrating oil...More heat. You can also try putting a candle to em.(not to heat em! LOL) Get the fittings hot...touch the candle wax to the fitting. It will flow in and hopefully provide a little lubrication.Good luck!!!

as you heating em try putting some anti seize right next to the line and threads, it'll catch fire but some usually flows into the threads and helps to break it loose, works on tie rod end bolts, don't see why it wouldn't on brake lines

hammer won't work. just spins around with a 7/16 wrench. 3/8 is too small to fit. gonna try this mopar penetrating stuff (it comes out as a foam) and meticulously set the vise grips for it. it's either that or finding a shop open on sunday to change the hoses and hoping I don't crash on the way down... wish me luck either way lol

ok. got'm off with the mopar and a type of vice grip I got from my neighbor. I forgot to blow torch the copper washer to recondition it before putting the new hose in. so now I have to take the drivers side back off. I think I overtightened it so it's back to square one lol. As far as fluid leaking goes, I put some plastic between the cap on the M/C and the reservoir to create a vacuum seal.... no fluid leak after I did this. word.
