    check out E-bay mav

Well you people just amaze me with your ability to see things that I dont. Your all correct with your comments. The VIN is 2K91T190286. The designation on the door post is 62A. Rick the owner now, bought the car with a bad 351 in it. All he did was bore it 30, put a new cam and other parts in it. what parts I didnt ask. Thats all the changes he did. Its a very nice looking car and the holes in the trunk were from trim on the outside and filled in with bondo. He said the car was painted 4 yrs ago.if I ever go to buy off E-Bay I will get you guys to help. Hope this clears everything up. C-ya Ron:D

Wow ... bondo'd trim holes have held up for 4 years? That's impressive ... :)

FYI.....I have seen rear side marker lights that were painted with trunk speckle paint from the factory.

I think you should be particular when contemplating a $10-12K Maverick. I may be wrong but I would think authenticity would mean a lot when trying to insure your hi-dollar (at least for a mav) for true value. Cool car with what looks like a nice 351C swap but for that kinda money I think you can do better. Another questionable e-bay product. IMO.

I agree with BIg Bully. Until recently I think most people didn't care if it was a factory Grabber or a Grabber clone. However, with the popularity of these cars starting to grow a true Grabber is most definitely gonna be far more valuable. Just look at the difference in value of a GT Mustang clone or Shelby Clone compared to a Factory GT or Shelby. This auction is probably going to be typical as these cars become more popular, collectible and valuable - trying to pass off a standard car as a Factory Grabber. Thanks to the Grabber VIN and Marti Reports for Comet GT's hopefully not too many people get ripped off. Just like the guys with Factory 4-speed Mavericks with 9 inch rears or 4-door Grabbers ... these guys probably are just repeating what the guy said when he ripped them off selling them the car. The person running this auction should be bombarded with emails telling him that his auction is Fraudulent. Imagine spending big money on a Hemi Cuda or Boss Mustang only to find out it was originally a 440 car or a Fast Back Mustang with a Boss 302 swap. If I was new to Mavericks and spent my hard earned money on this car to later find out it wasn't a Grabber ... but originally an LDO with bondo'd up trim holes I would be P I S S E D! Personally I would never buy a restored 1970 Grabber or a restored Comet GT unless it had either all the original paper work proving it is not a clone or a Marti Report.

    OK ... I'm done ... :)

I thought that some things looked out of place, dash and door paint, grill,
1 piece carpet, but it is still clean.
I too would be curious about the 351C swap. I wonder if he has
    custom made headers.

Damn, you guys are good....You don't miss a trick! Remind me to get ahold of you, when I want to know if a car is a true Grabber or GT.....

What is it about the door paint and dash that is different from a real Grabber?

Also, what is a Marti Report? I didn't think there was any way to know how many Comet GT's were produced because it was a dealer option without a factory code.

I really don't understand what's so great about a Grabber when it's nothing more than a trim package. It's not like a GTO Vs. LeMans, or a 442 Vs. a Cutlass, or Gran Sport Vs. a Skylark. Those cars has performance differences in the powertrain, suspension, and instrumentation, as well as trim packages. The "Grabber" is no different from a regular Maverick and most had 6-cylinders, so I really don't get what all the hype is about...

Yeah, it's like a California Special or a High Country Special Mustang. Not a performace difference, but a factory designated appearance difference. It's not as significant a difference as the examples you point out, but it is a difference that is important to many enthusiasts (which most of us that read a forum about Mavericks are). You know how people get about things that are harder to get.

Dual batteries... I wonder if it's one of those diesel Mavericks? Hmmmm... now there's an idea for a conversion! I wonder what the folks on the Powerstroke board would say about that!!! LOL
