Just a quick design I did over lunch. Basically I took some quality pictures off the web and did a stencil overlay on them. I did exactly to them what I have done for hundreds of customers when making light stencils out of logos. I attached a high-res and a small clip to give you guys an idea of what it would look like in the can so to speak.

If they work for everyone, I can do a little more polish on them and send them in whatever format the guy needs them to be in. This was 20 minutes of effort, I would normally spend upwards of 2 hours getting the details a little sharper and a little less blobby. If you just want high-res pics and to let the maker to the design work, I'm cool with that too. Someone get a good camera and snap a shot, because I spent a bit of time looking for high-res images and the best I came up with was pretty crap when zoomed into it. 1 more thing, the filigree around the crest is going to be a right and proper pain in the arse no matter what. I left it blobby as all get out, hate it. Going to spend some time making it better for sure. That stuff is easier to freehand than to stencil over. Also remember you can't really have anything floating everything has to have connections. You just have to hide them as much as possible.

I didn't mess with the Maverick stuff because... that shouldn't be too difficult.

edit- I added a B&W with just the routed lines, also touched up the filigree quite a bit.

also I won't feel bad if no one likes it or wants to use it. I needed the practice anyway.

I'd love to have a Corvette one for the wife's car and a early style Lincoln script for mine. I don't want to jump ahead of you guys though, so ya'll get yours made and then I'll contact him to see about doing a couple for me.

Your efforts are most appreciated by me. I hate to say anything regarding someones work, but that design just doesn't work for me, but I certainly don't want to be the only person to decide what the logo should look like, only stating my opinion (and we all know what opinions are like...LOL)....
I do like the emblem the the later model Comet Deluxe Fuel Caps with "Comet" above the red crest, however I sold the only one I had so I am unable to get any detailed photos of it. Perhaps someone has an NOS or very nce one they can take high resolution photos of?

Yep I really thought about that quite a bit. Put the comet script above or on. Remember that usually the source for these lights is like 1" diameter on the high end. When I mocked it up with COMET on top and then shrank it down to 1", it's pretty tight. Now forgive me here for the thick lines, this was a quick mock-up.

I am basically doing what the guy making the lights will have to do if we send him a photo. First you have to do an outline of all the elements. Then you can color-fill the correct areas. Now I don't know if he uses a cut stencil, or if he does a black-out and pigment on glass(the method I prefer to employ for higher detailing). And I can't tell by the corvette logo, the right side looks like blackout and pigment, the left (checkered) side looks stenciled (there seem to be connecting lines you would need for an outlined checkerboard).

Make sure and view this at 100%.

Edit- added a blow up of that design. View it at about 12% for a realistic representation of how it would look.

I'm no graphic designer or artist, so if you can clean this up, I think this would be close to what Blugene may be referring to.

I surely hope that the black and red are just way to show the color. I know the red part is correct but the black part should be grey or silver.
I like the one thats not colored in.
can we see the comet script on the bottom?

Looks decent.. Needs cleaning up and loose the Comet script inside the emblem. It actually says "LINCOLN MERCURY DIVISION" which is rather lengthy.. I wouldn't be opposed to just having "MERCURY" in the center where it already is. The black cross sectioning in the emblem is correct but also has silver/chrome lines .. Lets get it as close to the real emblem as possible if you (or anyone) can. It also has lines in the red areas. If high resolution is what is needed then it can be made to just about perfect quality in the end. The Corvette one is amazing. I'd like to see that quality.. Maybe I'm wishing for too much?

And actually.. I like the gas cap better. Take just the image inside the circle and that's perfect.. or the whole cap. Says Comet and has the crest etc and it's round..
