I finally found a good set of rear window moldings for my 77 but they are severly oxidized. I've tried to polish them but I'm afraid to rub on them too much. What's the best way to clean these and other parts such as window, hood and door moldings? Also, how do you pull the small moldings at the back window? Mine are pitted but the ones in the junkyard are in much better condition. Thanks in advance!!! Scott
To remove the moulding by the back window, you need to take out the rear panel by the back seat with means removing the back seat first. Some of the screws for the rear panel are hidden behind the seat. The moulding is held on with a couple of speed nuts underneath and one screw. You have to worm your way up there through the inside of the quarter panel. Ford sure didn,t make it easy to get those mouldings off.
if you want to hear some really crazy stuff, todd was trying to clean our ansens. of all the strange things, the tissue that they wrap shirts and pants in at the clothing store (such as kohls) and mothers really made short work of all the oxidation.
