the only setups I've seen are the normal ones that use a cable that adjusts at the fork, or a setup that adjusts at the firewall.

the oem mustangs have the plastic quadrant setup that adjusts by pumping the clutch pedal..but it's a trashy setup

my adjustments are made on the bellhousing. ive had this setup in my car for the last 6 months or so with no issues or anything. im not saying i have the best setup but so far it has worked out really well.

and i think that the mustangs were the only thing to have the quadrent adjusting setup, that ive ever seen...

thanks for the input. i was looking at the setup today and was wondering about it's form and function. i tried to fab up my own quadrant but could never get it to make enough tension. my brother will prolly swap a T5 in his Comet GT down the road so that might be a direction he wants to go in (if he doesnt make me do it for him )

I had a Bobcat (Mercury's version of the Pinto). I always had a problem with the cable pulling THROUGH the firewall. Finally dedicated a set of vice-grips to the cause and it cured that problem.

Sounds like me. I shudder at the thought of a cable...
I have a 78 Chevy with a cable. No matter how well we reinforce the firewall (short of replacing it), it keeps ripping it.
The cable is tough as nails, I doubt it will break.

Having had several modern cars with hydraulic setups, I fell in love with that system. The hydraulic TO is even more sweet since you only have to run a single hose into the bell and do away with all that linkage.

At first with the Pinto the cable bent, then finally broke through, the firewall. After reinforcing the firewall I started breaking off the little swedged-on balls on the ends of the cables.

Thanks for all your insite:thumbs2:. I never realized a T-56 was so large. Back to the T-5 idea.

    t-56 swap

i have put a 03 cobra t-56 in my mav.it wasnt that hard, cut the trans tunnel and brace for the transmission.i raised it about 2 inches.as for the bellhousing i used a mcleod unit,it cost about 450.00.when i get enough money im gonna go with a hydraulic setup like this one http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=MCL-14005-30&view=32&N=700+4294925134+400374. its not cheap but theres not much room there for a throwout bearing arm and i like the feal of the hydraulic clutch pedel.i have one pic of the transmission tunnel on here i will try to get more posted.[IMG]
