Hey Cliff! Got the car back today. Runs great, looks good & drives like a dream. Now to finish the 1000 other things.

I really like the factory slotted mag wheels...Just wish they made them in 15". I'm doing 3300 RPM, at 60 MPH, with the 3:80 posi gears...

car is looking really nice. 3300 isnt that bad. i run the truck there and it still gets around 17(when its not towing or carrying the camper of course).

Wow..that is looking really good...maybe I should just leave my old heap at home! Anyway..I got my stripes on(look great) but still one "Maverick" emblem short...just enough room for your emblem. Did the brakes last weekend..but they are not super great yet...hopefully they will get better with use(hope hope hope)...I'll try and readjust them tomorrow. Just a few more weeks to go before Knotts eh! Can't wait! 3300rpm was about where I was with my 4:10's. I didn't want to do that rpm for that distance though which is why I swapped gears. Maybe you should put your old gears back just for the trip...just a thought...but it won't hurt anything at that rpm(did it for years with no problem)

Thanks for the kind words Dan. My wife & I, are very proud of the way the car has turned out. Looking forward to the car shows & MCCI Mini Meets this year. Getting excited about meeting everyone in California, in a couple of weeks.

The pictures do it justice. It is going to have to be wet sanded again. Then maybe, it just might need another clearcoat. Can't worry about that now. Will try to get it done, when we get back from California. I'll keep the gears in. I've noticed the 302's like the high RPM's. We will get you hooked up, on that Maverick emblem, when you get here.

Well Cliff, I took it for a good drive today. Not happy with the posi. After driving about 2 hours, the rearend started making all kinds of clunking on turns. Then it started to do it on acceleration & deceleration. I thought it sounded like the clutch packs, so sucked some gear oil out & replaced with tracloc anti slip lube. Worse now. even acts like it's in neutral sometimes on take off. Guess it's back to the 3:55 pumpkin. I'll let you know how I make out. It's coming down to crunch time...

Thats too bad Coop...I feel for ya man. Is the yoke loose? What about your u-joints? Hope you solve it..or get'er swapped. Only one weekend to go! Mine is doing ok...idle seems to drop at times and tries to stall...not sure why..was working fine last week!

Did you put in that little bottle of friction modifier? You get it from Ford. It comes in 4 oz bottles. Clutch type lockers need it. I had to put 2 bottles in my Auburn to quiet it down.

Yes, I put that in. Then this morning I sucked some out & put in another tube. Test drove it, & at times it felt like it was in neutral. You could rev it up & it wouldn't move. Go figure. I haven't put 30 miles on this pumpkin yet....

My idle seems to stall out at times, when I stop at a red light. Don't know why. It always fires right back up. Go figure.
I found the problem with the rearend. Can you believe it? One of the spider gears broke. Check it out. I'm so PO'd. At least I got the 3:55 pumpkin swapped back in. I'm ready to rock & roll...Have to send the posi back to be fixed. It has a one year limited warranty...

That looks a lot like one I blew up in my Courier. Only with that one, it actually shot the broken spider gear out of the back of the axle housing. Pretty impressive destruction!
