I'm glad you did it that way. I was once approached by someone from the church I attended. He had a friend with a relative who had passed away. The relative was a bit of a hoarder, one of those guys who passes with a field full of cars, and some gems like a Continental and a V16 Cadillac. They wanted to know if I had any tips on how to properly dispose of it all. By the time I got back to them, an auctioneer had told them he only wanted to sell 4 of the cars and they'd already scrapped everything else. While I know it would have been a bit of a job, and I get that the money probably wouldn't have been enormous, I thought that was sort of disrespectful for something that was a big part of his life. I was willing to fill a trailer with parts and sit through the swap meet at the Goodguys Des Moines show with them in return for a few used parts for my own project, but the deed was done.
