Hello All, been a while since I've been on here. As always, thanks for the help. I'm finally getting around to the AOD swap. I bought one of Frank's cross-members nine years ago! Anyway, I've read through the archives and I wanted to confirm a few things.

First, the trans tunnel does not need to be modified? It is really close but I don't see any place it is in direct contact. I also found the AC drain plug needs to be trimmed.

Second, I was able to get the driveshaft back in, barely! If I push the driveshaft all the way in it does "bottom out" in the transmission. I'm able to slip the u-joint over the yoke at the rear end. Then, I can pull it back and install the straps. My question, it is only about 1/4 of an inch from "bottom out". Is this okay. I would think so but wanted to be sure.

Finally, I used the C4 rear mount as suggested in the archives. Is this the best idea or is there an AOD mount that would bring the transmission down away from the tunnel a bit? Worried about pinion angle here.

    Thanks again for the help!

    "I bought one of Frank's cross-members." :Handshake:
about 1/4 of an inch from "bottom out" is this with the wheels on the ground, if so that's too close. I cut about 1" of the front yoke.
the crossmember was made with the correct pinion angle and was set for the C-4 transmission mount. the AOD is bigger than the c-4.

Thanks Frank. Bought it in 2007. This is why we ask questions. Never thought about it on the ground. After reading the post several times, you cut the yoke instead of making a new shaft. How did you cut it? Yourself or have it done?

I cut it with a 4" side grinder and then tapered the leading edge like it was stock. this was for a stock 8" Maverick rear end.
