Thanks everyone, it's gratifying to know the work is appreciated by fellow Mav/Comet owners because lets face it, we are a discerning group.
We all do the mods that some may never see but by the person that did it and the people on this board, to know the folks on this board like something is to know everyone will.
Anywho, I gotta tell ya I was sweatin bullets when I took the shears to that panel:eek:

Shelby if you find some chrome it won't fit around the light without overlapping the raised part of the panel, at least not any that I'm aware of. I suppose you could move the light closer to the gas cap but that may not look right.

    sequential tail lights

Here's where I got my sequencers:
    http://www.webelectricproducts.com/

They are the only ones I found that you can wire up so that the turn signals sequence but the brake lights all come on at once, the way the original Ford lights worked. You could also wire them to sequence for turns and brakes.

Thanks for the tip. I also am needing a sequential box. Will have to check the site out. What all did you have to do to get the kit to work with your lights. How simple is it?

That is a very easy circuit to build. I saw 1 problem with his circuit. He recommends using 2 amp relays. 1157 bulbs draw 1 - 1 1/2 amps "after" the filiments heat up. The initial inrush current of a cold incandesant filament can be up to 10 times that, i.e. 10 - 15 amps. So you should use a 20 or 30 amp relay.

Just a thought, but would the Shelby tail light bezels not fit? They hug the lenses perfectly, so there would be a minimum of anything going past the lenses. They're pretty expensive, though, a little too expensive for an experiment, at least for my wallet!

That's what I have on mine, I don't have any overhang on the sides or top. They overhang the bottom of the raised portion of the panel about 1/8", but since the edges of the bezels are painted the same shade of black as the panel you don't notice it. You actually have to feel it.

This guy bought a fiberglass shelby tail light panel and adapted it to his car. Looked real good.

I went back and found that pic from the NPD show before I did mine, I also looked at Terry Gates conversion, The Cougar bezels wouldn't work on the Mav panel even if I had wanted to use them, a Shelby bezel would have made it much easier to do and probably would look better, I wanted the gas cap to remain the center of attention on the rear of the car.
I'm even leaning toward not puttin the chrome bumper back on.
