This is my Roadster that I am working on. The pictures are old the motor compartment is completed w/ louvered fenderwells. I will be running a 302 w/ dual 4's, a tremacs 5 speed w/ 3.80 gears. The wheels are on there for simply motovation. If anyone is interested in a set of 4, I am going to be selling them. God willing I am going to have this project completed by the spring of 10.
Yes it is coming along very well, unfortunately it will not be ready for the round up or the gathering due to prior obligations, but that is alright. I did some other changes to it and am still working on some original ideas. Thanks for the inquiry John
A Mav/Comet convert would be coool. Use the quarters and rear decklid from a 4 door to flatten the rear deck and eliminate the kick up in the quarters from the C pillar. This would also allow more room for the top/mechenism when its down and allow you to actually have a useful trunk. There is a picture of a four door in the gallery somewhere photo chopped to look like a two door (its green) the lines are just right on it...It would be the way to go for a convertible conversion. Check it out of you can find it.
I love convertibles and would love to have one myself. I have 2 now and love to pop the top and feel the wind! I really like the converted Mustang one better than the yellow one. It is very nice looking , but it has a Saab conv look with the raised trunk. Flat is better to the eye. A convertible Sprint would be the best!! Jim
Part 1 http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=13190&highlight=convertible Part 2 http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=13569&highlight=convertible Part 3 http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=13764&highlight=convertible And no, there is no more progress since then but its a project that I will finish one day,
OK I really like that. It retains some of the fast back style roof line that I like so much. A convertible eliminates one of the best features of the Maverick. Its roofline. IMO
I don't like the way they look with the top up, but I think they look cool with the top down. A guy I used to know in Southern California(Inland Empire) about 20 years ago had a blue Maverick(maybe '72?) with a non functional convertible top and it always looked cool because the top was always down. Now that I think about it, there may not have been a convertible top, they might have just cut the roof off.
Its is too bad the blue roadster pictured above only exists in Photoshop World. The board member who rendered it also did a cool Magnum-style wagon version, too. I would consider doing something like this or the wagon if I ran across a really clean car that had a damaged roof due to a vinyl top.
