Perhaps this was intended for a Mach 1??? Both the 71 and 72 Sales brochures show the lights turned on and they are yellow .... Oh well ...

    That's what I thought.....

...I figured one of the Maverick experts/gurus would have corrected me at the Nationals for putting the amber bulbs back in my Grabber's sports lamps if the bulbs were supposed to be clear. That's what I thought!

    amber bulbs

I bought my first 71 Grabber in 1974...it's always had amber bulbs in ever since I had it and still does.

The ones on my 71 are just eye candy as they don't work either. The bulbs are amber I tried to change one of em and ended up breaking it there is so much rust and corrosion inside the sockets i'll need new sockets to even try to get em to work.

OK, the Maverick experts now definitely state that the bulbs might be amber. Indecision may, or may not be our problem. (to quote Jimmy Buffett)

    My $.02

For those pre-'73 Mavericks that have the grill mounted lights, I have always known the lenses to be clear and the bulbs to be amber. From '73 on the grill mounted lights were the turn signal lights and the lenses were amber or clear, all Comets had amber lenses until I believe '76 with itdoesn'treallymatterwhatcolorbulbs since you can't see through them. I have a friend with a '75 grabber, clear lenses, amber bulbs. So...............
If you do not have the separate turn signal lenses available 70-72 below the bumper, you should have amber lenses or clear lenses with amber bulbs. Most states require amber turn signals.

B the way, I have seen the '70 Mach 1's with both amber and clear lenses as well. Maybe it depended on the state in which the car was sold? The Mach 1's did not use this as a turn signal in '70, only a driving light.

    If anybody needs them....

    Mustangs Unlimited (www.mustangsunlimited.com)
sells these lenses for $39.95 per set, but they only have them
    available in clear.
Someone makes them in amber, because I bought a set
last year. I may have gotten them from autokrafters, I just can't remember.

Just looked at the 72 brochure we have and in a couple of mustang parts books. The brochure shows the sport lamps on and they are yellow. The parts books have the 1157A wich is an amber bulb. So I is wrong and you is right but, I like the clear bulbs better.:D

yes littleredtoy is right... most states do require amber lights as your turn signals for the front of the car. They also require that your side markers be amber in the front and red on the rear. Most states also require that your brake / turn signals must be red without any coverings. California state law list light law under Vechile Code book number 25803 (a), (b) and (c) i not about to write it down but if your intrested look it up!

For example my bule maverick violates all the above...

rear and front amber side markers also smoked. Clear turn signal lights on front grill with hiper white bulbs and smoked rear taillights. (see below pics and next picture etc)... Call me stupid but it aint no fun looking like every one else... thats also why im sure you all drive Mavericks.... so we don't have to look like everyone in their mustang :p

    What are we thinking?

Why are we talking about the color of lightbulbs like a bunch of honors science class losers?

Check out the website listed in the bottom right of that last photo with Mary J.

    She's tough!!
