backyard paint jobs are the same as backyard shadetree mechanics the grass roots of hot rodding if you paint when the bugs aren't out you can lay down some nice work
and even if it doesn't lay out as well as you'd hoped.. that's what wet sanding and buffers are for. Just need to be sure you put enough extra materail down so you don;t cut all the way through. lol
That's right plenty of clear and don't run the base coat everyone tries to make the basecoat shine the first time or two they paint but it is the clear that makes it pop also don't go crazy trying to make the clear shine wet sanding and buffers like you said is where it is at
95 percent prep which is most of the cost 5 percent paint one time there was this painter who painted a masterpiece a critic, a female looked at it and said ''that is beautiful you must have good brushes and paint'' they went and ate dinner at her house after dinner he said ''that was terrific food you must have a great oven''
Maybe not "get it painted".. but you would probably be surprised what around a G's worth of premium products can roll out of a do-it-your-selfers garage. I see home built AND painted cars all the time and some are quite literally show cars being displayed and shown in magazines too. The skills and tools needed to do a premium job need to be acquired.. but perfectionism is usually inherited. Don't underestimate the little man working out of the little garage.

Yeh and if you ever had a Earl scheib or maco paint job you'll learn real quick what a cheap job gets you. All they are is a 50 footer ,they wreck more than they do good.if you want your trim and glass sanded and scratched on top of a shitty paint job then you go that route.waist of money and time,I've seen plenty of them thrue a used car lot and auctions.

I bet he doesn't paint a car for someone else for that price. People don't understand the cost for the body and prep work. The cost for decent primer and paint is costly and that is not including all the other supplies needed to pull off a paint job.
