It comes down to the same thing..there is not a infalible way to verify it. When I found mine, it had been repainted a disgusting two-tone blue. The car spent it's entire life in Ohio and that was a good thing in that Ohio is one of the few states that place the subgroup on the titles. I had verification that it was an original Stallion. It would be great if we could get the Fed to pass a law that required states to put the subgroup on the titles everywhere. It would certainly make it easier to verify the authenticity of what is out there and would also put an end to unscrupulous individuals making clones of valueable subgroups and passing them off as originals to capitolize on the market, especially now as values have increased across the board as they have. Does anybody know of any other states that place the subgroups on the titles like Ohio does?
Sure! Get the "FEDS" involved with more things that they don't need to. Hell there trying to take Your guns away, now You want them to take Your Maverick away. Please rethink. Tom
Now, you know what I mean. By the by, I'm an NRA member and damn proud of it. We just need to find a way to prevent unscrupulous jerks from cloning valuable rides and passing them off as the real deal, as well as making it easier to identify the subgroups accurately. Disclosing the subgroups on the titles is a good way to do it. I'm sure the Stallion question is not just limited to this car. I'm sure there were others made by the Big-3 that don't have the subgroups somewhere in the VIN like the Stallion. Oh yeah, on the steering wheel question, mine has a standard steering wheel. In the factory literature I was able to get from Detroit, there was nothing about the "Stallion" steering wheel being part of the options. Now, this is not to say that it couldn't be gotten back then, but I still doubt it except possibly as a special factory order off the chart. There was, and still is, a lot you can do as long as you're willing to pay. I didn't mean to make this a political statement (and I'm a Republican also).
I have a sales brochure for the 76 Maverick and it makes no mention of the steering wheel in the Stallion description. I thought they all came with buckets but it says standard was the bench with black random stripped cloth. You only got the buckets with the LDO option, which is kinda weird cause the LDO package says a vinyl roof is also part of the package but I never seen one on the Stallion. I guess if you ordered it you could get pretty much what ever combination you wanted.
Dennis, you have seen a Stallion with a Vinyl roof. Mine,,it is the only one I have ever seen though.
Must have been that old age thing, I didn't remember yours having the vinyl roof. Seems lately, every time I open my mouth, my foot automatically heads for it.
Me and the mrs. just been talking about the big roundup. Cant figure how both of us can leave home at once. So I just might be by my lonesome this year. But I will be there! Doubt that my Stallion will be together enuff to bring over. I am working on trying to buy a 70 Mav. So that might be my ride this year. Dan
