all is good... I read back back over this a few times to look for patterns but the...no gas... was a surprise. also going to pull the drain plug, scope the tank and see if something is obstructing the fuel sender float.
pulled the sender and pump, reinstalled and all is well now with fuel gauge. hooked the regulator back up... now for those...brake lights.
went out this morning hit the brakes...brake lights work... backed it out for a little...... went about a block and noticed the temp going up...215. turned around and headed back to my shop. by the time I got in the shop...235. shut it off, popped the hood and felt around under the hood. there wasn't any place I couldn't lay my hand on that was too hot to touch... E-water pump and E-fans didn't come on...fuses good... they get their switched on power from two different sources and two different relays, both have constant power to relays... to be continued...
So if there was not any place that didnt feel hot I would assume that the temp gauge was bad, I know you have digital gauges. Stupid question but does you water pump run all the time or just when temp comes up ? I assume when your temp comes up it energizes a relay and turns the fans on and when temp gets hotter it turns on high speed fans. I guess what I am saying is what controls the relays just because they have power does not mean they are working, see if you can manually make the fan and pump come on by bypassing what ever controls them. The relays must have something in common for both things to not work. I know you have probably thought of all this stuff but trying to back up your thoughts. Maybe you need to get Effie to go out and talk to Patches and explain to it that she likes him/ her but needs to get its act together before she will want to go anyplace and feel safe doing it
E-water pump gets signal from key switched on power. Atomic sends a signal from a temp sensor to Volvo relay, each speed has a set on temp. I jumped the water pump relay and it ran. it's getting no power on the switched on wire. I checked all the fuses and none were bad... I have 3 temp sensors. one for the Dakota Digital temp gauge...one for the MSD controller...one for Atomic EFI...(it's in the T-stat housing) I think being there it didn't get hot with water not calculating through the T-stat. I'm going to check the fuses again tomorrow.
got the E-waterpump working... fired the car up let it run for 3-4 mins. shut it off... now the E-fuelpump has no switched on power... nap time...
With all the stuff you have done to the car you should know every inch of it pretty good, I cant even begin to imagine how something can change as fast as they have and being some of it is totally unrelated to the other problems other than it being an electrical problem and all seems to have started by dropping tank to change hose . Next thing you know is the headlights will start flashing for the side that turn signal is set too Electrical stuff is great when it is working but when its not its a lot harder to find the problem especially when it is so sporadic or changing from one moment to the next. It would be nice if you had a panel of leds to show when relays have power and if the contacts are closing and sending power . I am convinced your car is possessed
Just as I thought, Maverick body rejecting off brand heart. Hey, makes as much sense as saying it's haunted.
checked the wire going back to the pump. hooked one end to +batt. checked the other end...nothing... new 10 ga. wire 8ft. long. checked the constant hot...nothing... 2ft. long straight to power block. I had just started the car and all was fine. going back out...
well well well...went out turned the key...fired right up. ran smooth with idle at 720-750 RPM. volts 13.8-14.3 at idle... didn't skip a beat. my PWP is working for the first time ever...38 PSI at idle-44 PSI at 1500 RPM and above (42-45 PSI target). temp came up and turned the fan on... if the roads dry up by tomorrow maybe a little...... note...the Ghost is still in the shop...
you think after I get this installed I should be able to narrow any electric problems down? it took a minute to make up...
