Yes, cutting the coils worked great! 0 complaints, well except for those stupid speedbumps at Taco Bell....lol. It handles better than my buddy's 5.0 mustang too. The only downside to the handling is that the backside tends to get a little squirrely when the turbo spools up coming out of a turn. If I had to do it over, I'd definetly do it the same way again. A friend installed v8 600lb springs in his Comet, but now the front end sits higher in front than in back---kind of looks like a 4wd.

just my 2 cents.....I took alot of weight out of the front via aluminum heads, fiberglass hood etc....the car set up very high in the front so I took the springs out set them in a bucket of water and cut a coil and a half off with a torch....brought the car down about 2" - 2.5"

I like it! The part about putting the coils in a bucket of water and using a torch is a new one on me but wish I had thought about it years ago when we used to take our cars to the local Mobil station which had a drive on lift. For 10.00 he would take a pack of Lucky Strikes and set it under the frame at each corner. Then the blue wrench came out and he heated each coil until the car sagged down to just touch the top of the Lucky's. In the early 60's I was financially embaressed so had to drive rather cheap autos, like 50 Studebakers, 50 Buick coupe and dozens of other strange looking vehicles. All got the lowering job, rode like hell but man was it cool, just like ducktail haircuts don't you know

Well, where can i get some aftermarket springs? I don't need top-of-the-line or anything, just something better than stock. I paid $70 for the new set of springs i have now...how much more will aftermarket cost? Model #'s?

Here's another suggestion. Try using coils from a Boss 302 Mustang. They are higher rate and the same size. Just cut them down.

    Check out http://www.p-s-t.com/

If you talk to one of their 'tech sales' guys, they'll ask about your set-up and what application you're going to be running (street, strip, street/strip, weight, weight distribution, etc).

When I purchased their 'Super Polygraphite Suspension" from them, I also bought a set of drag springs for $200.00. If memory serves me correctly (and I'm an old man), they had MOROSO make the springs. Took about 4 weeks to come in.

    Good luck,

    Rick

It is a stock blue from the factory. The invoice I recall said it was special paint for that LDO model. However I have seen other non-LDO's that same color who knows. Anyways.. I had the body shop match up the stock paint. I am not at home right now but i can get the code off the door if need be. Some call it baby bule and I call it that too but I think the correct one is light bule... the best way to match it up is with the color code. Also I do not think you can really get that exact paint anymore.. you can... but I am sure you know Acrylic Enamel is illegal to spry in most states or all states these days. Anyhow I am sure they can match it up with todays new water based paint. Also remember ford had 2 other light bules as well. e-mail me to remind me to get the color code off the car.

    Hope that helps some what
