"Yes you are right there are lots of sqare rectangle holes under the pad thats the only way they could lighten the car up." those holes are the " crash zone " for the passengers head!
One more vote for the dash cap! I was very pleased with mine. Accuform ordered from JC Whitney. Impossble to tell it's not OEM: I don't currently have pics of the dash, taken just to show detail on that, but you can see well enough in these pics and others that it doesn't stand out as a cheapass cover. In fact, I would be willing to bet that if you go through the gallery and you find pics showing "flawless" dash pads, nearly all of them will be this same Accuform cover. Can't go wrong.
Here is my dash cap... it came in my '74 Grabber (first two pics are of when I was driving that car daily). When I originally bought the car, I didn't even realize it was a dash cap. When I was cleaning out the interior, I put my hand on the dash and the cap popped right off! I don't know how old it is, but it's at least 15 years old. I have it in my '72 now.
Ok ... now that makes sense ... I remember when mine was all apart wondering why in the world did they go to all that effort?
