What are you doing to your bushings? I did mine myself when I put in the Caltracs originally.

I can help you with those Joe. I've got a 20 ton press and a cutting torch.

West Coast Cougar Classics has them I think. Thats where I got replacement shackle bushings for mine.

Thanks Tony and I will most likely take you up on you're offer. I'll let you know once I get them so we can set up a time.

Shackle bushings look good. Its the other ones (bigger ones) that need to be replaced.

So today I bolted up the flywheel, t5 bell housing and brand new starter from summit. I went to crank the engine and it did but only once. I tried again and nothing. I looked inside the bell housing and noticed that the starter kicked out but didn't go back in. Now I'm wondering if I have the wrong starter or flywheel or both.

Probably a mismatch. There are two starters and at least two flywheels.

    Well that's not good.

The starter I got from summit has 3 mounting ears. 2 bolted up fine. 3rd ear just sticks out.

I live about a mile from West Coast Cougars. If you want me to look at something, just holler.

    Got these pressed in today.
Also got a carb from Ryan. Need to buy a rebuild kit for it.

Stock 3 leaf and new to me 4 leaf.

Also did away with some California only emissions stuff. I couldn't find replacement parts so I plugged the holes. Before I couldn't fill up my gas tank because it would leak fuel from the broken part and every time make a right turn.

Broken part on the left. Temporary fix on the right.

Figured out why my starter was getting stuck....I ordered the wrong one. :slap:

Little by little. Goal is to have it running by June 10th. Even if it only makes it around the block :rofl2:

Around the block would be good.

Hello, I'm Mike Carter. Possibly one of the oldest Maverick owners. I live in Mesa. Ryan said there were a few owners around the area, so I'll introduce myself. Next time you all meet up, I hope to be there. I purchased my Maverick in 1969 at Berge Ford in Mesa new. $1995.00 sticker. Was 170ci six w/three on the tree. Swapped a HP289 into it in 1971 with a Borg/Warner super T-10 behind it. Then in 1996 or so, I put a relatively stock 302 with a C-6 from a Ford Truck. It was a daily driver for years. I'm still in the process of making major mods and upgrades. My last fling. Have a 427 (495 hp dyno'd) with Tremec 5-sp ready to go back in. Have Mustang II front end with coil-overs, Wilwoods, power rack and pinion, etc. in the front and just installed a Kugel Komponents Ford IRS for rear with inboard Wilwoods, parking calipers, 600 HP rating. Taking out the side markers, took out fuel from rear panel (will be using fuel cell). It's truly becoming unique. May shave handles and install power windows. Want to put in Dakota Digital dash. But down the road a ways. Summer is coming on and my garage isn't ac'd. Well, that's my background. Look forward to meeting you all. Regards, Mike C.
