This Saturday, at the top end of the Central Cruise. Central and Camelback in the Applebees parking lot. We will be there around 6pm. Its a good spot cause its not so crowded like down south but stilll get to see the cars going by.
Eric the car looks good. Slap all that crap back togethor in time for saturday. We can come help. What part of town are you in?
Dood I cant believe it!!! the buyer sent me double the asking price as a tip!! And the guy selling the Iron Eagle came down 150. But its probably another CL scam I have either pleased the "Hot Rod God" or Ryan is rubbing off on me
I have some stock steel wheels from my 73 you can have, I dont know if there 14s or 15s. But theyre 5 lug 5 4.5.
This Saturday, at the top end of the Central Cruise. Central and Camelback in the Applebees parking lot. We will be there around 6pm. Craig, how do you earn a TIP when selling car parts, especially double the price. Are you doing something a little EXTRA?
Ryan came over last night and we got the block and head cleaned up and replaced the head gasket and got it torqued down. Just have to bolt up the headers, install rockers, adjust valves, install carb and fluids and it will be done. See ya all at the Cruise! Thanks for the help Ryan...that head is one heavy piece of iron! :bananaman
You guys should have seen the carnage of the old head gasket, no doubt that little 250 was pushing some POWAH!!
Thanks for the offer Ryan. You're a good guy. I'm afraid I must decline, however, as the biggest problem is that I sold my AFR 165's, alum. roller rockers, and chromoly pushrods a year ago to come up with some emergency cash. So, I kinda need to replace all that. The dude that bought it got a smokin' deal, too: $700 for everything. 10K miles on the parts and they were immaculate. Decided to replace the old 8.5:1 pistons with some domed 10.6's while I have the motor benched. I think I'm gonna replace the HV oil pump with a stock one while I'm in there, too. Try to free up a few ponies. Motor redlines at around 5800 and bearing clearances aren't excessive, so, I don't think I need a HV. My goal is to crest the 400 HP mark with the new gear and, hopefully, run in the 12's or high 11's. I need to rebuild the tranny, too. It's stock, but, with some kevlar clutches/bands, a manual valve body, and 2800 stall. I'm gonna try the mods listed by PaulS in the "how to hotrod your C-4 tranmission" thread. I've rebuilt several trannys with good results each time, but, never as intensely modified as he is describing. Should be interesting. So, as you can see, I've got my work cut out for me. I just thought I'd start with the rear of the car just to get back in the swing of things and build momentum before I tackle the big stuff. Again, thanks very much for the offer to help. Not many people would do that. Just lemme know if you ever need a hand. Be glad to help. Eric
So you wil be ready for the fall central cruise? you got 6 months. Sounds like alot of fun. I miss the good old days of building my cars. not so much fun when they are finished and all you do is fix them and let them sit too much.
Well, I kinda gave myself a 1-year goal from the date of this last "dyno day 'n' food" get-together you set up, but, six months sounds do-able for the mechanicals. Oh, I forgot to mention, I had factored paint and interior into the 1-year time-frame, too. Hmmm ... 6 months would be a tight squeeze. Maybe I need a second job for a little while? That would definitely speed things up! Eric
Head Gasket Carnage Here are 3 pics of the head gasket...number one cylinder is completely blown out and two other cylinders were not far behind.
