Did Mavericks have Engine to Chassis Ground?

    Yes, is the answer. I just went out and messed around the trunk of the dead stallion and found the valve cover to firewall ground.

    Not sure if it is correct but it works. I picked up one of these today at NAPA. Bolted one end to an empty hole in the back of the passenger side head. Then fastened the other end to the center of the firewall using the bolt that holds the brake line clip. It's 12" long and about 1 inch wide. Part number BEL711284 at NAPA ... $6.99 ...

    Dan, that will work fine. I will post a pic tomorrow of the one I found today. While my mind is a vast wasteland sometimes, I do recall moments in my life that dont matter. One of them is of me removing the wire I mentioned earlier in this thread on my Stallion so many years ago.

    '72 2d to hold my trailer down with.
    The first time I tried to start my Maverick (after the rebirth as a hot rod) smoke came out of the starter. this was because I didn't put a good ground on the block. added a wide braided Volkswagon Bug ground strap between the block and the sway bar mounting bolts and have no trouble now.
