Differences between a Comet and a Maverick

    comet ldo interiors have a star emblem on the door panel while mavericks have the maverick steer head emblem

    Comets are harder to find than Mavericks too.
    Tail lights/panel.
    Hood.
    Stripe kits.
    Emblems and trim details.
    Grabber had a rampy spoiler.
    Grills are different.
    One is a Ford the other is a much coveted and rare Mercury.

    Both look better with TransAm side scoops, Cragars and bucket seats.

    the stone gaurd between the grill and front bumper is diffrent too

    bumpers

    Doors and fenders interchange, and rear bumpers are the same, but front bumpers differ. On Comets, the grille is extended, and there is a kickout in the bumper that parallels that.

    Early Comet front bumpers ... tough beast to find in good shape. In the past 15 years, I have yet to find a good one that did not come from a bumper restorer.

    They made 5 times as many Mavs as Comets.

    front bumpers on big bumper mavericks and comets are the same though, yet the stone gaursd are molded slightly diffrent. '73's may be the same as well but im not sure

    About 10% difference in value, Comets are even more the " maverick" than the Maverick.
