Just read through the whole thread ... nice starting point! Clean car.

Regarding the 8 inch rear ... if you want 5 bolt wheels, you will need to swap the whole axle anyway. The bearing sizes in that one are different than the 5 bolt. Center chunk is 28 spline like other factory 8s.

What trans are you installing? C4, FMX, or AOD? I just inherited my son's freshly built 175 (bored 170) with upgrades because of a wreck and can't find any way to bolt any kind of automatic overdrive trans to it. I really want an overdrive trans, but have the small six with high mount starter. Guess I'm stuck with a C4 unless I switch to a manual, ....then my wife won't like to drive it. It's for both of us to drive, so she has a lot of input on the build. I hate to waste all the time , effort and expense we put into our Falcon motor. block almost ready to go back in.jpg bored .030 and all new pistons and rings.jpg 175-big log-Weber DGV-DUI.jpg

I finally have some pictures of the mav just after returning to my back yard. 20150909_183233.jpg

This was before wiring up the engine, and bay....the plug wires look like spaghetti at the moment.

Re-routed spark plug wires, for a much cleaner engine bay. 0923151439a.jpg
Also, scrubbed up the original six alternator and starter relay with a toothbrush.

    Really nice...

BTW the fan spacer is supposed to be natural aluminum, never seen one painted on any Ford from factory...

Having some doubts with wiring up the duraspark system into my '70.
I believe I have everything worked out, did a lot of research online regarding the system.

Mine is green grommet, btw and has a blue wire in with the white/red combination.
Also, the wires are backwards plug to plug on the distributor side...but the plugs fit.

I wired in a 16g wire from the ignition pink to red/yellow stripe connector just short of ignition switch.
That wire will serve as my run only wire for red to brainbox, as white I assume goes to S terminal on start relay.

Still utilizing the resistance wire for coil power only, the system was supposedly in a 1976 Maverick 302.

Tom, the spacer was painted black to keep with the sleeper theme.

Frank, the Edelbrock chrome covers only serve as a temporary solution.

Anyone have a 1970 drop in style gas tank for sale?
Someone fiberglassed over holes, and tears galore on mine.
    Radiator shop can't even fix.

    Hi Larry:
Just finishing my 70 Maverick and it came with an 8" rear with 4-lug wheels.. Doesn't look like a "transplant"
I just changed the hubs to 5 lug and cleaned and put in new grease in the rear with new seals and axles. Haven't drove
it yet .. have to install the seats and windshields .. everything else is A OK and ready to roll.
