Do you need a spool if you run slicks?

If NHRA finds out you are running a spool or a mini spool without hardened axles you wont be allowed to race anyhow (many people run them and just dont tell anyone) and they wont tech you for it.

I ran a mini spool in my 61 Falcon and tore the splines out of one and twisted an axle but that was launching at 5,500 on slicks in a stick shift car.

You will be okay with a mini spool, but in an ideal world you should upgrade. Have fun. See you at the strip
