Margandc; just go to a fabric store and find one you like. Make sure it is durable, and get some high density foam, about 1/4" thick. That should be all you need, besides the hardboard and the adhesive (3M super). Good luck, and post pics when you are done.

If you have trouble finding material, try a couple of upholstery shops and tell them
that you need some black or some color that will compliment your car. You can use
vinyl, leather-more $$, or fabric. They may even give you some scraps. If it is scraps
that they 'give' you, or buy cheaply, fabric might be thin enough for a household sewing
machine to stitch patterns along with the high density foam that was mentioned earlier.
You have to sew it together. Moms, Aunts and Grandmas may come in handy there. It
won't work with thick material but may with lightweight stuff. You could even add
different color bands or patterns for a custom look. Do a search through the posted pics here of interiors and it is pretty easy to see what is custom vs. original.

Just please, please don't cover them with shag carpet!

    Good luck.

You have to use vinyl paint. Several companies make it. The best stuff is made by SEM. An auto finishes store will have that. You can see if your local parts car can order it. Be sure to get the vinyle prep to. That is sprayed on before the vinyl paint. For hard and molded plastic, you may need to use a vinyle primer as well. I did a thread on changing door handle color and door panel color in the last 60 days. Look under cosmetic.

I used SEM on my door panels ... Used the SEM vinly prep before painting to remove all the dirt and oils before painting ...

Don't forget about the door panel clips. They are available new through Autokrafters and Mustang restoration shops
