Hello guys. I need both doors on my 74 grabber done, the pins are worn out. Where can I get a door hinge pin kit from or is there a compatibility with like a mustang or Torino?
http://mmb.maverick.to/resources/door-hinge-pin-replacement-101.133/ Make sure to read the whole thing - there is an update towards the end for a no-drill solution.
I have my oxy/act. kit but the car needs restored, and as much as I drive it I don't mind drilling out the hinges I guess. I have a spare set that need done too, I might do the swedge type pins on them. I was just talking to Craig last night telling him how great it's been having this forum for a resource. I know I ask a lot of stupid questions, but this isn't a 60's mustang or Fox Body. It's a maverick, and just now are re-pop parts just now coming available. I want to thank everyone for helping me keep this car on the road. Is there a way to take the hinges off one at a time? or do I need to remove the door completely.
There is no such thing as a dumb question about fixing these cars. I have screwed up so much stuff over the years, all because I thought I knew the answer but I didn't, and should have asked first. But I am getting better in my older age ……….. …………. You can get at each hinge to maintain the door alignment by removing the fender. Then do one at a time. Might be able to get at them by just pulling the inner fender splash shield too. But I like getting the fender off and fixing anything wrong under there too. They can be done by just opening the door and doing one at a time but make sure to support the door weight so it doesn't sag when the hinge is removed.
thanks. now I drove down to NAPA and took the Maverick on the freeway for the first time and she overheated. new problem LOL.
