I just bought 100 feet from of weather stripping from Dennis Carpenter Ford Reproductions. Cost $79.83 bucks with free ground usps shipping. So thanks for making that argument, and proving me right.. there is no reason to pay that much for a pre fit kit..when you can just buy it in a roll and cut to fit yourself. Sales rep said you would be surprised how many restoration shops around the country just buy rolls of the stripping and fit it on all makes of fords. He was the one that suggested I buy a roll smallest was 100 feet that they sale. should be here next monday.
That's cool. So does the $80 roll replace all the door weatherstripping on the Maverick? Roof rail and lower door? And what about the pre-formed rubber ends on the roof rail weatherstrip?
It WON'T replace it all....and it WON'T have the pre-formed rubber ends....but I would say it should work pretty good for most of it. Let us know how it turns out.
I just re-read my post from last night...I kinda sounded like a jerk. Prove me right... yeah sorry about that. No it doesn't come with the preformed ends. But I will take pictures of the whole install, when I get it done. Next step now is to strip the car down and media blast it. As there is no way I am hand sanding a car... not gonna happen. Thinking about buying a soda blasting unit. As sand blasting, can kill you.. killed my uncle. And other medias can warp, or damage the metal, and can be just as deadly. From everything I have read you can't die from baking soda.. or exposure to it. Can kill plants short term though :16suspect Ph levels of the soil alter, on a short term period if coated in enough sodium bicarbonate. Not sure, if I should rent a soda blaster, or buy one. Looking into that this morning..
