I am looking to have a drive shaft build an need the stock length on a 1974 Comet 302 c4 auto
On my 74 Comet 2 door 302 C4 driveshaft was 46 1/2", measured center to center of U-joint eyes.
Good to know, I have one from a V8 car and one from a six but didn't mark which one was which. Thought they would have been the same but they aren't.
Mabe you could post measurements of both, it may help someone out later.
Shafts for 6cyl are 1" shorter and 4dr are 7" longer than 2dr.
Amazing; Krazy Comet do you use your obscure automotive information to impress girls in bars?
Thank you very much.
Shaft length does usually impress.... Occasionally scares them..
thats weird. My i6 manual drive shaft fit into my V8 C4... Well at least I think it did. Havent driven it yet.
my stock I6 shaft fit C-4, 302 W/AOD, 302 W/T-5, 347 W/AOD and my LS W/700R4 no mods in length.
This prompted me to look at '70-'72
The 2dr 6cyl & V8 are listed as same at 46 5/8". The 4dr driveshafts were 53 9/16" vs 52 9/16" or 1" longer for V8 vs 6cyl. Usually 1/2" long or short makes no difference, no idea why 4dr or later models varied.
That's funny, one of mine is from a 71 V8 and the other a 72 250 six car. Both had C4 transmissions.
after mine was scrapped with the trans , I have no choice , but to buy a new one . PST has one I will purchase .
