All the outside sheet metal can be repaired. The key to your question is how are the torque boxes, tear frame rails, etc. If those areas are rusted badly....I would part it out.
Yep, torque boxes, frame rails, etc... all rusted out. But if this is a rare mav, I hate to do that. The parts would go into my 77. Wife says part it!
Mine? Nope, they are going in the 77 along with most of the interior. I will have lots of excellent red interior parts for sale...but no bucket seats. Everything is in such good shape I am going to bolt all of it onto the 77 exterior and interior. Sorry.
Dave I also have those seats although in nowhere near that condition. Those seats look really good. Mine were dyed when I got the car but it is fading now, also you never know what kind of job was done unless you have done it yourself.:bananaman :bananaman
I thought of that. It would be a 75 Grabber with a 72 grabber hood and 71 bumpers, 77 body, red paint instead of the original yellow. I suppose that this would be better than just trashing the 75 all together. One of the reasons I am building a 77 Mav is because I can do what ever I want to it. I am tired of having a cougar that I cant change anything on because it will hurt the value and originality of the car. The Mav I can have fun with!!! I would love to restore the 75 totally but that is expensive and I planned on using a lot of the parts to finish the 77........I am so confused now. Anyone know where I can get the production numbers on the mavericks? Just how rare is this thing and does it even matter with the Mavericks??? 75 grabber v8 floor shifter (auto) black LDO interior yellow with black body
They made 8,473 1975 Grabbers. In 1971 and 1972, the numbers were in the 30,000's each year....so what you have is a rare car. Having said that, rare doesn't necessarily translate to valuable. IMO, 1971 and 1972 Grabbers will always bring more money than a 1975 Grabber if everything else is equal. If that car is as rusty as you say it is....I would part it out.
Ok, that helps put it in perspective. Thanks and I will start tonight!!!!!!! Looks like the wife was right all along....
I have a set of blue-gray (kind of teal) LDO seats out of a '74 just like the tan ones above with the integrated head rest. They were the ones I covered in black vinyl and put in my green '72 Grabber.
