Electric VS Manual fuel pumps

    I got a 86 5.0 EFI, and it had the EFI timing cover, but it also had the manual pump eccentric on it. Also has a roller cam. On the timing cover the hole for the pump just had a thin wall in the casting to block it off. It was very easy to cut out. As for the dipstick tube hole the boss is still there all you have to do is drill the hole.

    fuel pump eccentric

    I have 5.0 ho motor that i got from a mark7 lsc lincoln and funny thing is when i removed the timing cover to remove the cam and there i find a fuel eccentric bolted onto the cam which my motor was port fuel injected. just thought that was weird.:eek:

    Must be a differnt year thing. My 84 cover has the boss for a fuel pump, but it was never opened up. The boss for the dipstick is not there, or I would have just used the 84 cover. The cover I bought has the dipstick boss but it wasn't driled, and the fuel pump boss is open for the manual pump. Won't know about the manual pump eccentric untill I pull the cover to install the cam.....
