Well, I....and the pocket book....had to stop somewhere. I could have went with a bigger intake, some bigger heads, a bigger carb, maybe some long tube headers (I am going with the Doug Thorley shorties) , a bigger stall converter, and bigger gears in the rear axle....it goes on and on. I wanted a very streetable engine. This car will have factory AC, factory Power Disc Brakes, and street tires. I also wanted it to run on pump gas. I think with the build I have.....I have met all of my criteria. It has, in my opinion, wicked torque down low in the rpm band where, in a street car, one will really notice it. Stop light to stop light...this will be a fun car to drive.

358hp at 5300 rpm. 384 ft. pounds of torque at 4500 rpm.

Even at 3300 rpm it has 358 ft. pounds of torque. At 4000 rpm it goes to 373. (Wicked for the street in my opinion).

In my opinion.....this is a pretty mild build. It just goes to show what one can do with the right mix of components. Just imagine what COULD have been done!! With alum heads, bigger carb, bigger cam, bigger intake, bigger heads, NOS, etc. Who needs a big block?? All I need is my little 302. :D

sounds like a great build especially for the street.you dont want a high winding motor for the street, torque is what you feel driving around.

    congrats.

I wanna do the same thing with my original 302, with aftermarket heads, roller valvetrain, and the 347 stroke. Someday............

Vista Orange...made by Ford at one time. Now made by any competent paint shop. No copy cats please. :D
