I agree with Mavman. I converted mine to roller and it was cheap. Especially if you know any of the 5.0 Mustang crowd. I got the spyder and lifters for free. They all seem to have this stuff laying around. Stock roller lifters are cheap even new. You will need a bottom tap if you install it witout removing cam first, as Mavman pointed out. I called Comp Cams and had the grind I wanted put on the small base circle. Price was the same.

To roller or not to roller, that is the question. Just a note on it, I was one who thought the roller setup was too expensive and not a big improvement over mechanical or hydraulic flat tappet cams. "Wrong", once used will never go back. The throttle response is better and once bought, the lifters are reusable on cam change for various reasons. Course I use mechanical rollers instead of hydraulic. One noticable thing in drag racing, is when you lift at the finish line the engine braking is almost gone with them. This is due to the rollers decreased friction and lobe design. Also you must run a heavier valve spring and this requires more spring pressure and some heavy duty rocker studs, 7/16th's in my case. Hardened push rods would be another choice too. Not sure if all this applies to street applications with less agressive cam profiles? Try it, you'll like it.
