Derrick, sounds like you need to do some 60' tuning (Cal-Tracs as you mentioned). Assuming you are running slicks (you ARE running slicks, right? - if not, that might be your your problem), next time out, I'd get a benchmark on your 60 foot, make a full turn on the Cal-Tracs then make a pass, then go the other way one full turn (from the benchmark) and make a pass. I believe that would get you in the ballpark of what you need to do. Also, I'd have someone look at your "launch" tracks. If there are two contact lines on the outside of the tires, too little air pressure - only one small contact line then too much air pressure. Anything less than 12 psi will possible make the car get squirly at the end of the track. I'd test and Tune on 60 foots with good slicks and Cal-Trac adjustments before making any other changes (like a smaller gear - I think you're okay there). BTW, what size tire are you running?
Just an FYI, Eric you may wanna consider some aftermarket axles with the new rear end, Im pretty sure both sanctioning bodies require them, not to mentiuon, you really need them.
anyhow i hoping its the cal tracs... see in this photo the trangle part is hitting the subframe This is not good you hit the nail on the head about the cal-tracs not working. It would be a good idea to notch out the subframe conn. or whatever that is.Also not sure how you have them set up but when setting up the cal-tracs first try just resting the cross bolt on the top just touching the leaf spring.Try not to pre load it.Thats helped alot of friends of mine with cal-tracs traction issues. It lets the spring work.Hope thats some usefull info....
Yeah, I agree. I actually expected the rear end or an axle to break already. I'm to the point now that I will not run the car again until I get a 9" with full spool, gears, and 31, 33 or 35 spline axles. I've pushed the 8 inch far enough.
Nice videos. Derrick I would have never thought you would bet up on a Honda...lol...pour kid didn't have a chance in h#@l. I thought you liked imports. Those Mav's sure do sound good. Congrats Erick
well we will see... im not getting my hopes up too high.. i'll be happy with a 7.55! springs are stock with a re-arch and a half a leaf like the mopars use. converter is a 4k stall.. and your right about the spinning... if you look at the in car cam and look at the tach... watch how long the tach stays at like 5500 rpms thats tire spinning! and the weight transfer.. yeah probably becuase of how low it looks... but i like the way it looks too... cake and eatting it too next time you can push me when i brake down! lol! not slicks they are Street ET 26x10.50.. hopefully i'll get this fixed within the next month or so. as far as launch tracks gonna have to do that down the street some where the incar cam is on one of these... its was mounted on the back window since i don't have a roll bar. its sucks to the window and is made by bogen the camera is one of these. canon GL1. i activate it with a remote control to trun it on to record right before i get into the water box. the outside cam is just some regular pansonic one. liking them has nothing to do with with beating them though i have a pill 5800 in it... by the time i see it.... the tach its at 6200 where i like to shift the car. from second to 3rd its just stays on longer becuse it takes longer to get to 6200 . 6800 is the redline on the car but i just never take it there unless it just doesn't hook up.
Derrick,I'd ditch the 4.62's & maybe go with 4.10 or maybe even 3.80 gears.I ran my best times w/3.55's,course my combo was mild.W/4.62's I ran EXACTLY the same on motor(9.05)but slowed on the bottle(7.81 to 7.99)because it was blowing the tires off if I even looked at the button in 1st gear.I normally hit it right off the line.JMO
