newtoford, what yard did you find these at? Most of the ones I've been to in PA/MD are over-priced and with prices like that I bet I could manage a 3G swap for next to nothing.

    In 1998, the 5.0 L V8 received new cylinder heads (GT-40P series)

would swapping the springs from my '77 heads be something worth investigating?

When we say "ask", we mean "ask the cam manufacturer what he recommends". They will know EXACTLY what will work with their products.

Those heads originally ran roller cam/lifters, so they may have the wrong pressures, even for a mild cam. Most possibly the cause of my failure...

I used the P's from a 96 i think. They flow great but it was a major pain and i would not do it again.

so i found a local here selling a rebuilt roller with reworked GT40's already on it and for the price i think im just going to get it. no way id ever have my engine as powerfull for wha hes asking.

i think im going to sell of these GT40's to fund the project. what would be a good asking price? $200?

Ask at least $300...then go down from there if you have to.

To recap we Want the P heads due to the angle of the plug for running headers right? and they flow better?

You do NOT want the P heads. You want the GT40 NON-P heads. The plug angle hits the header tubes on the P heads.
