I hate parling lots regardless of what car I have. I had my Honda (yes my commuter) for 2 weeks and I it parked at the train station one day. When I got back to my car at the end of the day I noticed it was sitting odd and I walk around to find my head light gone, my fender ripped up and my bumper on the ground. No note or anything. Some one got caught on it while pulling in the spot next to me and took my car with them. $2500 later and no one to blame. So I can feel your pain.
A few months back I had a little bumper bender in the local IGA parking lot. This lot is real small and there are always fender benders in there. Some moran parked about a foot away from my drivers side , so when I backed out of my space I had to really watch how close I was to the morans mini-van. Meanwhile, an old lady backed out of her Kia out of her space and proceeded to drive right into the path of my truck. The dead center of the trucks rear bumper hit her rear bumper and just barely pushed the bumper in and scratched the paint. I told her we owned a bodyshop and we could have her car fixed for free in one day. She agreed to that and planned to come by our shop the next day. The following day I get a call from the Police. She turned it in to the cops and decided she wanted to turn the accident in to her insurance co. She didn't want her car fixed; she wanted the money. Our insurance companies came to the conclusion that she could just eat it. As my agent pointed out, here's an 76 year old woman yakking with her passenger and not paying attention to her surroundings. How in the hell can could she not see a BIG, red and white, 4 wheel drive pickup backing up? Now that she wasn't going to get a dime from the insurance company, she decided that NOW she wanted her car fixed for free. We politely told her to stick her bumper up her a**.
Know how ya feel. The neighbor's kids put a baseball into my windshield and left about a 6-8 inch crack . Problem is, I can't prove which neighbors' kids did it. Oh, well... back to junk yard hopping.Eric (silver70)
Dude that sucks, sorry to hear it. On a positive note, this post reminds me of the VW commercial where the guy dives in front of a shopping cart headed towards his jetta ( as if a jetta is worth saving) hehehe AC
